Floreat Waters, a Herdsman Lake residential develo

Herdsman Lake is a large peat covered wetland which is covered in reeds and full of wildlife. Its environmental significance is noted with heritage listing.

CGC Dredging worked with the developer to develop a large section of the lake perimeter to produce a premier housing estate. This estate had contoured public open spaces tapering down to open lake water.

The project the fill requirement was met by dredging 750,000 m3 from under the surface of Herdsman Lake. A large quantity of peat was also dredged to form shallow lake areas.

CGC's low ground pressure earthmoving equipment was used. Difficult typhus reed removal was undertaken by dredging.

The road and drainage services were then installed.

This was the first of our lake projects in which we undertook innovative engineering of dredges to adapt to some very trying conditions.
